Breve Biográfica
Nacido en Jacksonville Florida, a la temprana edad de 9 años Johnny tuvo a su cargo el cuidado de su Abuela quien radicaba en Palatka Florida. Desarrollo el gusto por la música desde pequeño, llegando a tener una importante popularidad mientras estudiaba en el High School (Secundaria). Fue a raíz de una aparición suya como invitado al programa de Toby Dowdy que le convirtió en estrella estatal y le dio la oportunidad de tener su propio Show durante tres años. Simultáneamente efectuaba sus estudios en la Universidad de Florida, en la carrera de Periodismo y Comunicaciones que concluyo exitosamente. La vena creativa de Tillotson lo llevo a comenzar a crear composiciones musicales de temas generalmente románticos. Hacia 1957 gracias a la ayuda de un locutor de radio de una estación local Jhonny logro concursar en un evento a la búsqueda de talentos musicales de donde resultó ser uno de los 6 cantantes finalistas. La agradable imagen y su voz propiciaron que una Editora de Música de nombre Lee Rosenberg le pusiera en contacto con el director de Cadence Records , Archie Bleyer. Ahí comenzaría su carrera exitosa.
Firmado ya por la Cadence Tillotson emigro a Nueva York para continuar con su vocación artística. en el año de 1960 grabo su primer hit la canción "Poetry in Motion" (Poesía en movimiento -escrita por Anthony/Kauffman) que rápidamente se coloco en el 2o lugar de las listas de popularidad del Billboard Hot 100 y fue número 1 en el Reino Unido de Los Singles Charts. Un gran número de temas de Johnny fueron éxitos en los charts de Música Country y en los de la música Pop. Recibió una nominación al Premio Grammy por una composición suya llamada "It Keeps Right On a-Hurtin" (Me sigue doliendo) y también por la canción "Heartaches by the Number", también fue nominado por mejor interprete vocal en 1965. Apareció en el fime de 1963 "Just for Fun" e interpreto el tema musical de la comedia televisiva "Gidget" estelarizada por Sally Field -actriz famosa por su serie "La novicia voladora" (The Flying Nun).
A lo largo de una carrera de más de 40 años, Tllotson ha grabado 26 sencillos que han entrado todos a las listas del Billboard, ha interpretado a diversos idiomas y ha efectuado giras a lo largo de los Estados Unidos y otros lugares del planeta.
Fue llamado a participar en la comedia The Fat Spy estelarizada por Jane Mansfield, Jack E. Leonard, Phyllis Diller, Brian Donlevy y Jordan Christopher & The Wild Ones. Esta película fue catalogada entre "Las 50 peores películas jamás hechas" con el número 46.
